Sure, you’ve heard of Meals on Wheels, but did you know that there is an active program that serves our neighborhood? Volunteers of Southwest Minneapolis Meals on Wheels deliver nutritious meals at lunchtime, Monday through Friday, to elderly and disabled individuals in the Armatage neighborhood. Meals on Wheels helps people remain in their homes as long as possible by delivering hot meals right to their doors, and providing daily safety checks and friendly interaction with volunteers. The Southwest Minneapolis program requests a $4 fee per meal from participants. Government and other types of assistance may be available for those who are unable to pay the full cost. Forced-door burglaries south of 46th St. February 2, 2010 Facts: Since January 7, 2010 there have been 16 residential burglaries south of 46th St. from the Edina city limits to Nicollet Ave. Suspect(s) forced a door or broke a window to obtain entry. The burglaries occurred between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Two of the incidents happened between 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. All of the burglaries were on Monday through Friday, while residents were away. Losses include jewelry, cash, silverware, and small electronics. |

The ANA Board recently began a new process for nomination of neighbors as Armatage Treasures. Any person or business residing in Armatage can be nominated for efforts benefiting our neighborhood. Nominees will be posted on our website (click here) as we receive them. Nominees from the current year will be invited to the next Annual Meeting held every March and will be honored for their efforts. One of the major concerns every year in the Fifth Precinct is burglary—whether it is business, residential, garage, forced entry or non-forced entry. While we are still seeing reductions in burglary, we are not seeing as significant of reductions as we have in the past. We feel that by working together, we can make substantial reductions in burglary in the Fifth Precinct. |
