November 20 Armatage Neighborhood Meeting Highlights

  • ANA adopted new bylaws – view them here.
  • 5th Precinct Inspector Kathy Waite and Crime Prevention Coordinator Jennifer Waisanen gave an overview of recent crime statistics for the neighborhood and strategies to prevent property crimes.
  • Larry Matsumoto from City of Minneapolis’s Department of Public Works presented about 2019 street resurfacing planned in Armatage.
  • The board is planning to have a larger meeting on pedestrian safety at 54th St & Penn Ave soon – stay tuned for the date!
  • The Tree Lighting & Charity Drive event takes place tonight (Friday 11/23) at 7:00pm.

Armatage Tree Lighting and Charity Drive

Friday, November 23 • 7:00pm • Armatage Park

Grab your umbrella and winter gear and come to the park tonight for free cookies, hot cocoa (donation suggested) and a fun photo op with a vintage sleigh (at the park now through Saturday morning).

Drop off new diapers, pull ups, and other unused children’s items at Armatage Park in November and at the event for the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery. Check out the Crisis Nursery’s full donation wish list here.

Free Entrance to State Parks Today

Entrance fees to all 75 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas will be waived today (Friday, November 23).

MSP Noise Oversight Committee

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) Noise Oversight Committee (NOC) is an advisory board to the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), and is comprised of industry and community representatives who address aircraft noise issues associated with activity at MSP. The group meets bi-monthly on the third Wednesday of odd-numbered months.

The next NOC meeting will be held on November 28, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) General Offices. November’s meeting will discuss items related to Aviation Noise, Environment, and Health – Related Resarch, 2018 NOC Accomplishments, CRO Update, and the Stakeholder Engagement Plan for MSP 2040 Long Term Comprehensive Plan.

Metro Transit E Line Corridor Study

Metro Transit is planning to improve transit service with the E Line rapid bus project, which would follow Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis and Uptown. Metro Transit is starting a Corridor Study to evaluate E Line routing options on more segments of Route 6 south of Uptown, along West Lake, Xerxes and France. We the northern end we are looking at routing options along 4th Street and University Avenue. Changes to the Route 6 and other connecting bus service will also be included in the study. We would like to hear from you to help us determine where the E Line will go.

Corridor Study Community Advisory Committee
We are looking for 15 members to represent residents, students, businesses, and Route 6 riders along the study corridor. The committee will meet approximately three times over the study period. Committee meetings will be held on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:30.
