April 16, 2019 Meeting Highlights

  • Our park director, Nikki, reported the Armatage/Kenny Egg Hunt on April 13 was a huge success with 400-500 people in attendance!
  • ANA’s Annual Meeting & Board Elections will be held Tuesday, May 21 at 6:30pm at the Armatage Recreation Center. Several board seats will be up for re-election. Board members discussed event details, agenda, and approved a budget of $500 to serve free pizza, drinks and dessert at the event.
  • This year’s Summer Festival will take place on Sunday, August 11 from 4:00 – 7:00pm. The ANA board discussed recent updates to festival sponsorship, the layout of the event, and the price of wristbands, which will be raised to $6/child with an $18/family maximum in 2019.
  • Over 117 boxes and bags of items were brought to the Green Team’s Donation Drive on April 6. Volunteers sorted items and delivered them to 12 different organizations.  Great job, Green Team!

Love our neighborhood and want to get more involved? Run for a seat on the ANA board at the Annual Meeting on May 21. If interested in running, please email our Coordinator, Lauren, at anacoordinator@armatage.org with a short bio about yourself and why you would like to join the board. Thinking about it? You are welcome to decide to run at the event, too! Renters are an important part of our neighborhood and are especially encouraged to run.



Join Council Member Linea Palmisano on Thursday, May 2 at 6:30pm in the multipurpose room at Lynnhurst Community Center (1345 W Minnehaha Pkwy, Minneapolis, MN 55419) for an evening with Transportation, Planning and Programming Director, Jenifer Hager, to discuss our city’s proposed Transportation Action Plan. Armatage Green Team Meeting: May 7

Join the Armatage Green Team at its next meeting on Tuesday, May 7 at 6:30 pm at the Armatage Rec Center to help plan programs and services for the community around zero waste, rain and native gardens, and minimizing our ecological footprint. All are invited to this free Shredding Event on Saturday, May 11 from 10:00am – 12:00pm sponsored by the O’Neil Group of KW Integrity Lakes! Shred and recycle any confidential documents and enter to win a $100 Ace Hardware gift card courtesy of the O’Neil Group and Perl Lending.

Apply for an Armatage Neighborhood Mini Grant!

How can we make our neighborhood a better place and engage our neighbors? If you have ideas and want to implement them, the ANA has just launched a new Armatage Neighborhood Mini Grants program. Grants are available for up to $1,000 and subject to the City requirements that prohibit spending on food or entertainment. Get all your questions answered at armatage.org/programs/mini-grants or at a Q & A session at our Annual Meeting on May 21.

The deadline to apply for a Mini Grant is June 15. Award notifications will be made by August 1, 2019 and grant recipients will have up to a year to complete their projects. Questions? Please contact us at anacoordinator@armatage.org.


Kenny/Armatage Garage Sale

Our neighborhood garage sale is a great way to get a lot of bang for your buck! Clear out your clutter and make a little cash. Again this year, we will partner with our friends in the Kenny neighborhood to amp up the traffic to this event. Registration is free this year and due to the growing popularity of weekday sales, you have the option to register your sale for Friday, May 31 in addition to Saturday, June 1.

Minneapolis-Saint Paul Home Tour

The 2019 Minneapolis & Saint Paul Home Tour is happening this weekend and two Armatage homes will be open for visitors!  Find help and encouragement as your tour home and make progress toward your new kitchen, bath, suite, your quest to claim unused space or to add on. The City is hosting 5 community workshops and 1 online open house in April and May to collect public input on transportation-related opportunities, issues, and priorities to develop the Minneapolis Transportation Action Plan and the Vision Zero Action Plan.
