Armatage Welcome Bags

We’re putting in one more plug to let us know if you’ve recently moved into the neighborhood so we bring you a Welcome Bag! The groovy, reusable tote bag’s contents include useful information on the Armatage Neighborhood Association (ANA), elected representatives, governmental services, local businesses, and a couple of fun items to welcome you.

  • Homeowners: be on the lookout for friendly ANA volunteers Ethan (pictured) or Kevin with a Welcome Bag with your name on it! They’ll swing by to do a masked, distanced drop-off.
  • Renters: if you are a renter who moved in during the past year or if you own a rental property in the neighborhood and have new tenants, please reach out to us at anacoordinator@armatage.org and let us know where we can drop off a Welcome Bag!

New Salt Mini Course

The City of Minneapolis has launched a new educational program, the Minneapolis Salt Mini Course, and would love for you to be a part of it! The mini course is self-guided and consists of reading through a few lessons and watching videos.

Take the course and you will learn about the consequences of over salting and what you can do to help protect our waters! Upon completion, you can pledge to practice salt stewardship in your community and request a salt decal to show your commitment. Will you join us in doing your part to keep our waters clean?

What You Can Do About Plastic

THANK YOU to everyone who joined our Let’s Talk About Plastic series. We were blown away by the response from both Armatage and surrounding communities.  Plastic is wreaking havoc in our world and is an equity issue that disproportionately impacts BIPOC and low-income communities.  Here’s how you can take action:

Please Clear Your Sidewalks

Sidewalks are a critical part of our transportation system that help people of all ages and abilities safely walk or roll to where they need to go. Here’s a refresher on the City’s rules: Minneapolis ordinance requires property owners of houses and duplexes to clear sidewalks within 24 hours after a snowfall and all other property owners must clear their sidewalks within four daytime hours.

City inspectors are out actively looking for sidewalks that aren’t cleared in addition to responding to complaints reported through 311. Failure to maintain your sidewalk could result in a warning letter and, if left uncleared, a bill from the City (average: $239). Call 311 to learn more about resources available to people who may need help clearing their sidewalks. Find more information about snow clearing on the City’s website.

The purpose of the amendment is to eliminate the owner-occupancy requirement for certain accessory dwelling units.  View the public hearing on Comcast Channel 14 or 799 or live on www.minneapolismn.gov/tv/citycounciltv. Submit comments or participate by phone in the meeting by using the following website: www.minneapolismn.gov/meetings/index.htm.

Tonight (November 13) at 10:00pm, new statewide restrictions will go into effect to limit social gatherings, celebrations and the operations of bars, restaurants and event venues to combat the dangerous spike in COVID-19 cases that has occurred this fall. Some of these changes include:

  • Social gatherings: Gatherings must not exceed 10 people for both indoor and outdoor settings and are limited to members of only three households or less, including the host.

Additional limitations on celebrations, including wedding receptions, will go into effect soon afterwards.

  • Starting November 27, celebrations must end by 10:00pm and have no more than 50 attendees. The time restriction ends at 4:00am.
  • Starting December 11, celebrations must have fewer than 25 attendees. This does not apply to the actual wedding, funeral or similar planned ceremony, only the reception or celebration that accompanies the ceremony.
